What if your school became a springboard for tomorrow's female engineers?
The Girlsday237 science competition is aimed at primary schools wishing to introduce young girls to STEM careers from an early age.
But in practical terms, how do you prepare? And what to do after the event? Here's a practical guide for school heads, founders and teachers.
Two months to prepare with peace of mind
The decision to take part is ideally taken two months before the projects are submitted (February). This allows each school to :
- Learn about the concept and objectives of Girlsday237
- Identify volunteer teachers to support teams
- Select participating classes (CE1, CE2, CM1)
- Complete online registration and join the dedicated WhatsApp group
Good to know: all equipment is provided by the association. No purchase is necessary. Teachers can also benefit from personalized support, according to their needs.
During the creation phase: one project, one team, one challenge
Each school forms three teams of five girls. Projects are sent out in advance, accompanied by a clear teaching guide.
With the help of their teachers, students work independently on concrete themes, often linked to sustainable development or school life.
Volunteers are also on hand to support teams and answer questions.
D-Day: presentation, pride and recognition
The competition is held every year at the end of March. Teams present their projects to a panel of judges.
It's a great opportunity to showcase our work:
Medals, trophies and certificates are awarded to participants.
A wonderful moment of recognition for both students and supervisors.
After the competition: making the most of your experience
The adventure doesn't stop there. After the event, schools are invited to :
- Share feedback from teachers and students to improve future editions
- Integrate the experience into their teaching program
- Showcase projects at school (exhibitions, presentations, etc.)
- Stay in touch with the Girlsday237 community
Several schools have already reused the projects as sustainable learning tools.
A winning partnership for your business
Participating in Girlsday237 is much more than just a contest.
It's a commitment to equal opportunities, encouraging girls to believe in their potential, and showing that your school is ready to train the talents of tomorrow.
