On March 21, 2025, Yaoundé hosted the 3ᵉ edition of Girlsday237, a 100 % event dedicated to the promotion of girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). A day full of color, innovation... and emotion!
An exceptional day where pupils from CE1, CE2 and CM1 proved that innovation waits for no age.
Schools ready for battle (with ideas, of course 😎)
This year, six schools took part:
- The Key to Excellence
- Dominique Savio
- Cane and Cushion
- Saint Achille Catholic School
- Alberto Bilingual School
Each of these schools presented a daring technical project, carried out by teams of ultra-motivated young girls. The objective? Show that with little means, you can do great things.
Projects that make you dizzy (literally 😄)
This year's innovations include:
🔸 A functional elevator, imagined and built from recycled materials: a real lesson in engineering and physics!
🔸 A conveyor belt, worthy of a logistics warehouse, assembled from A to Z by middle-school girls. Automated object transport? It's done.
🔸 A motor-driven mini-car, precisely designed and tested live: speed, stability, mechanical logic... it was all there!
These creations impressed the public and the jury with their level of complexity, their ingenuity and above all... the passion of the young designers!
Girlsday237: more than an event, a trigger
Beyond the competition, this day allowed the girls to :
✅ Work in a team
✅ Apply scientific concepts to concrete projects
✅ Defend their ideas with confidence
✅ Project themselves in scientific and technical careers
Girlsday237 is living proof that girls have their place in the STEM world.
Looking to the future 🌍
With this 2025 edition, Girlsday237 confirms its ambition:
to train, inspire and reveal female STEM talent in Cameroon and Africa.
